Victory Poker Leaves Power Poker Cake Network
March 28th, 2011The move has come in a period of great upheaval on the home of Power Poker, the Cake Poker Network. Doyles Room Poker were one of the first to leave the network back in January whilst one of the more popular faces in poker Lee Jones left as Cake Poker Card Room Manager in December and has since signed on at PokerStars as head of the Home Games section. Tournament Director Serge Ravitch left at the same time as Jones as they cited disapproval of the direction Cake was headed.
Victory Poker on the other hand if the rumours are true will have moved three times in its short existence having first started on the Everleaf Network. It then joined Cake and now seems set to link up with Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet.In an interview with Poker News Daily following the release of this rumour Victory Poker CEO Dan Fleyshman responded:
“I would be excited to join a network that hosts the third largest site in the U.S. and has very few partners to focus on. It would be great for everyone involved.”It is a turbulent period for the Cake Network but we continue to offer 33% rakeback and a huge sign up bonus for Power Poker. They key question therefore is what is rakeback and what does it mean to your average player? Understanding the benefits of rakeback can help ensure you are a more profitable player.
What is Rakeback?
Rakeback is an authorised third party loyalty scheme set up by Power Poker and a third party like Power Poker Rakeback. Every time you play poker for real money you pay what is called rake. This is the small amount of money withdrawn from a poker hand in cash game that goes towards the running costs for poker sites. In tournaments or sit and gos this is normally called the tournament fee.
A rakeback provider will return a percentage of your rake back into your account for signing up through the rakeback provider. Good rakeback providers will also reward you with exclusive promotions like freerolls and rake races to give you further added value.

The Gold Spree:
If you play real money poker at Cake then you will be assigned a weekly Frequent Player Points (FPP) Goal. You earn FPPs just by playing real money games and the more you play and the higher stakes you play the more you earn. If you hit your goal for at least one week you will be entered into what Cake call a Kamikaze tournament that will take place on March 3rd. These tournaments will range from $500 if you hit one weekly target up to $5,000 depending on how many more you hit and the scale of your targets.
What is a Kamikaze Tournament?
The notion is quite simple in that every player will go all in pre-flop automatically. There are no decisions to make whether you would want to or not! They are another form of lottery but at least you can watch and it is cards that will decide your fate.
